We believe that the journey to a full life starts with two important questions: Where have you come from? And, where are you going? We give you what you need to locate yourself on that journey, while shedding light on how to navigate the rest of it.

Start with the first one. Maybe you’ve said to yourself: “I just want to stop feeling like this.” That is a common thing to want. But feelings are signposts. Wonderful servants, but terrible masters. They serve to point you to something that warrants your attention, but they fall short of telling you what. So we go further back.

You did not invent your patterns. You learned them. Most of them early, most of them honestly. The deepest of them, in the house you grew up in. This is not about blaming parents (which helps nobody). It’s simply about understanding your own origin story, the whole picture of how you became who you are, because you cannot change a pattern you cannot see. There’s a science to this, and it is very much on your side.

Maybe you’ve read the books. Listened to the podcasts. Tried talking to someone – or firmly decided not to. Yet you are still here. One size does not fit all, and tips do not connect the dots. The full picture does. If part of you just said “my childhood was fine”, that may well be true. The Portrait is not looking for villains, it is looking for origins.

An important word about a wall almost every man hits: resistance. Too many men never grow, and it is rarely for lack of ability. It is denial – “I’m fine, it’s the others.” And denial, of all things, guards the doorway to growth: the hardest door of all to walk through. Resistance is the enemy of growth. It is rooted in the ego, it works best when you don’t know it exists, and it pulls like gravity toward the familiar, because change is scary. Its cruelest trick comes right at the threshold: it hands a man a label – “that’s not for me” – and he stays stuck. Nothing changes because nothing changes. So let us say it plainly: this work can feel uncomfortable, even a little strange, and it is existentially worth doing. Seeing resistance for what it is, and facing that dragon with your eyes open, is exactly the moment that leads to becoming who you were born to be.

That is where the Portrait comes in. It asks real questions, and it is built to pay you back far more than it asks of you: a clear, detailed picture of who you are, across the full spectrum of a man’s life – and underneath it, the dials. You will see what each dial is doing for you now, and how far you can take it.

Our own origin story. Plato wrote that our need is the real creator, and that is true of Fathering Club. Years of need, in fact. The founder’s story is one of a man functioning on the outside but flat on the inside, repeating patterns he could not name that held him back, and looking for understanding he did not have, about a life that was hard. A cut-throat rat-race, a deep sense of isolation, and raising two sons on his own finally led him to look for answers… existential answers. When he started to find those answers, and “do the work”, one question nagged him: “Where was this information when I needed it earlier in life?”

Some suffering is necessary, if it is redemptive. Going to the gym, building muscle. Putting in the hours to become an expert at your craft. But unnecessary suffering is… unnecessary. In this man’s story, so much suffering could have been avoided by having answers earlier on in life. So, he made a lifelong resolution to share whatever he could with as many other men as possible, helping them to get unstuck, to thrive instead of survive, and to become who they were born to be.

That is why we built Fathering Club, and the man it was built for first was the man in the story. You won’t hear much more about him, and deliberately so. This is not about him. It is about your journey. And about you.

Which brings us to the second question: where are you going? True awareness already gets you halfway there. As Fathering Club continues to grow, we’ll help you do the same. From that ground, you’ll start to show up differently. As a partner, because “I want my relationship to work” is one of the deepest hopes we men carry. At home, because “I don’t want my home to be like the home I grew up in” is no small sentence. As a friend, because the men around you get much more of what you have to offer.
